The Secrets to Cats Toilet Training

Do you have problems with your cat urinating all over the house, or leaving you smelly parcels that you are constantly stepping on in the middle of the night? If the answer is yes then you could benefit greatly from some cats toilet training. It doesn’t matter how old your cat is, he or she is never too old to start using the litter tray or going outside. You don’t need to suffer the horrible smell of cat urine in your home and you don’t have to keep wearing out your mops cleaning up the messes, it is time that you learnt some of the secrets to cats toilet training.

The first thing you need to do is invest in a good cat litter tray and some good cat litter. Cats are clean animals and they will not use a litter tray which is not regularly cleaned and if you invest in some scented litter for the tray then this will help to mask any nasty smells for you and for your cat! Once you have your litter tray then you need to choose a part of the house where your cat can easily get to the tray and it will be out of your way. The ideal place for the litter tray is usually in an outhouse, but if you don’t have an outhouse or a conservatory area then try hiding it away in the corner of your kitchen, but make sure you put down plenty of newspaper underneath it.

Kittens are usually easier to toilet train than cats, but all you need for cats toilet training is patience. Cats are defiant creatures and it will usually appear that they are doing the opposite of what you are asking them, but this is only because they get confused by the tone of our voices and what we are asking them. Never should at your cat for making a mess, this will not achieve anything except for giving you a sore throat! Instead use a stern tone and tell your cat ‘no.’ this is a clear and simple instruction which will let your cat know that what he is doing is wrong and can not be tolerated.

Once you have told your cat that this is bad, you should then pick up your kitten or cat and place him in the litter tray. Don’t rub your cat’s nose in its mess because he will not understand what this means and it will only make your pet scared of you.
